Pearl was our very first rescue horse. She is a 15-year-old thoroughbred mare and has been with our rescue since 2013. She was found by animal control injured and abandoned in a field with no water or shelter. She had a large flap of skin hanging from her chest when she was picked up and needed medical attention. Once her wounds were cared for at Camarillo Animal Shelter, we were able to pick her up and bring her to our rescue. She was extremely traumatized when she arrived, and we spent a lot of time with Pearl working on her ground manners and gaining her trust. Pearl is a permanent resident here at Wild at Heart. Due to persistent laminitis in her front legs she is not a candidate for adoption.
